You Did What You Could
You Did What You Could
You keep replaying it.
The moment, the decision, the silence.
You ask yourself, “Why didn’t I do more?”
But here’s something I want to tell you gently:
You did what you could… with what you had at the time.
Maybe your heart was already tired.
Maybe you were scared.
Maybe you didn’t even know how to help.
And maybe, just maybe, you were trying to survive, too.
Regret has a way of distorting memories.
It paints us as stronger than we really were.
Wiser.
Faster.
Braver.
But the truth is… you are human.
And humans don’t always say the right words, or choose the right moments.
We stumble. We freeze. We fall short.
If you could go back now, knowing what you know today,
you would do it differently.
That’s a sign of growth, not failure.
But that doesn’t mean you deserve punishment from yourself.
You’ve carried this weight long enough.
Let the moment stay in the past.
Let yourself walk lighter.
No one gains anything from your self-blame.
Not you.
Not them.
Not the future.
You did what you could.
And if there’s anything left to make right,
you can begin from here.
